Hi all,

After over two yrs of hard, patient saving I finally got my new HMH Spartan plus micro jaw  Cool
Fresh out of the vise was a Roy Christie Reverse Parachute Emerger on a TMC 518 #32...

Followed by a Diptera emerger on a Partridge K1A #28...

I just adore this vise! Wink

Will check back soon, hope you like...

Hey Andy,
Really nice small flies, I have yet to try a #32 so I'm impressed.
I love Ed Engle's book Tying Small Flies and if you get a chance to see him
at a show you would enjoy it.

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys  Smiley
It's pretty cool that HMH have their own board to share information.

Ed's book is THE reference for small fly tiers, must have read it cover-to-cover a dozen times now, and it's never far from the bench... Would dearly love to meet the man some day, geography is an issue (I'm based on the North coast of Co. Antrim, N. Ireland). The small fly scene in the States is the raw inspiration for all my fly fishing and tying. - small flies certainly interest guys in the UK and Ireland but it isn't part of the fabric here.

Thanks again.

Best,
Andy

There is more to tying than catching fish.

Hi Andy. Welcome !

Nice to see those small flies. Do you fish them?
I used  to fish with those tiny flies for grayling in a stream in germany  where high rod pressure makes the fish laugh at most of our flies.. The tiny's however tricked the grayling.

Thanks for sharing your flies.

Thank you T.L.
Yes! I fish sub #24 almost exclusively, and #28 - #32 as much as possible. The trout are highly opportunistic feeders on these extemely lightly fished waters, in some cases the only fishing pressure exerted is by me... and the fish are all wild. And so I fish short rods, light lines and tiny flies to add challenge to my fishing. Not for everyone maybe, but the US small style of fishing thrills me, albeit not strictly required in the same way as fishing for educated fish on pressured water.

Thanks guys - I'll try and post regularly.

Best,
Andy
