Serendipity! Can anyone date this vise?

I recently purchased an old Gernster box to use for travel.  The box arrived so packed with stuff that it was hard to open the drawers. A separate box contained the vise, some books, and a Tiemco hook file loaded with hooks! The vise is an HMH A.P.I. It looks old but works perfectly and I think will clean up nicely. I'm curious to know when it was made.

Oldtrout,  That is a great find... the base alone used to sell for around $100.00. HMH used to have the date/production info on the old site,but I don't see it on the new site. I bet Craig or John could confirm the info I found on this site lhttp://www.tacticalthreshold.com/api-spartan-hmh-vise.html but looks like early 1980's and early 1990's.

Any other vintage things tucked away in the box, like great old China necks, jungle cock eyes, classic hooks etc.?

Oldtrout : I have the same vise , the HMH Standard . I bought it in 1987 . The one you have there looks in perfect condition from the picture . That Gerstner box doesn't look too shabby either . I'd say you got a good find there . As Hummmoss said any other goodies there for featherwing salmon flies? ..........Frank

No jungle cock or classic hooks, but a lot of material I did not have. I did find midge jaws and a c-clamp for the vise, some cool tools, a dozen different colors of marabou and bucktail. Moose, elk, deer, ram, squirrel, chinchilla. badger, ostridge, grouse, turkey, pheasant, partridge, a grizzly neck, lemon wood duck, mallard, lots of chenille, diamond braid, crystal flash etc.

And a very old receipt for material totaling $389.12.
95% of the material is unused! 
I'll be busy tying for quite some time now.
 
I only bought the box, the rest is a bonus.
