There is more to tying than catching fish.

Lot's of warts...  On the top body veiling, I tried to use a "salvaged" IC sub feather off which I'd already snipped the stem.  Should have used a fresh one, might have gotten it on straight. Need to buy some better Jungle Cock.  A myriad of other mistakes, but...I'm learning with every fly.
Thanks for your comments.

Hi Mike
The fly is beautiful, the proportions look good. They are a lot of work, aren't they!
From a tying stand point, Part of why your showing these, is to get some tips to build your skills. Other wise I would shut up. You do great work, and I can't tie like this. In saying that I've been around and have payed my dues with many hours at the vise and the use of a razor blade. So I'll make a few points.
Remember what I've said before, Don't start the next step until your happy with what you've all ready done. (ex; The top veiling.) Fix it before you move on. Because as the tier those little mistakes stick out like a sore thumb every time you look at the fly. All the rest of use just look with our mouth open and say looks great  to me.
It looks like the butt's aren't wrapped evenly. Make sure that you wrap the herl side by side and use a hackle plier, not your fingers.
You also might want to build up the body thickness with some white Rayon floss to get the cigar shape.

The body hackle and throat are perfect. The tail, topping, and horns look great. The width of the wing looks good. The roof looks like it's on just right, and a small head is all ways nice.
Try ebay for junglecock.
Great job, Russ

Hi Mike.

As Miles Davis said : fear no mistakes, there are none !!
You are doing a hell of a job.
As I say: One of the proves of perfection is the lack of it..........

Keep Tying !

Arkansas Mike,

Thank You for posting your full dress flies, I think we are all learning along with you. I am equally impressed with flynfeathers comments and suggestions as
they are a great help to those of us who attempt full dress, but have not been able to accomplish yet what you have. Keep the posts and comments coming
that is what the site is all about!

Thanks, guys.
Russ, I'm considering having, "Don't start the next step until you're happy with what you've already done."  tattooed onto the back
of my hand.  Grin   I appreciate the suggestions.
