Puckhead, asked how to tie a Green Machine so I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone. Here is how Warren Duncan showed me to tie a Bomber.Keep in mine the Greenie being a wet fly you only use one hackle. When wrapping two hackles try wrapping one at a time. This is a #6 hook.
When tying in the tail and horn use a lot of pressure and cement it well. When tying dry flies I think it's a good idea to stack the tail and horn to give some stiffness. Cut the butt ends at a taper and wrap through them. Do the same for the horn in reverse, but post it.
I don't spin the body hair, I've had to much trouble doing that. I set the bunch of hair on top of the hook shank, wrap two turns of thread around it and then work the hook shank into the middle of it and pull. I would call it flaring the hair, because it doesn't spin.
Make sure to trim the tips too, that way when you set the hair it will be shorter then the tail or horn for easier body trimming.

Flynfeathers - Thanks for the tutorial!  I tried some Green Machines and they didn't look like the ones you posted.  My trip to Altmar was amazing. Hooked a lot of fish and have pics of the ones landed.  All on the swing, lots of different flies/colors/presentations.  It was one of those trips when you land a fish, your buddies ask "What color are you using?" you tell them they switch and then nothing. You then either change presentation or a new fly and then "Bang!" Fish on.  You land it and your buddies see something different than what you told them and you spend the next five minutes trying to tell them that you switched up!  Of course they give you hell for lying to them.  I will post pics when I am back from the rinks.  Lots of kids games today.  Question on posting pics - never posted a pic.  What size is ideal? Where should I post pics? Thanks for the help.

Open a tinypic account http://tinypic.com/ up load your stuff. Open a new topic at HMH. At tinypic hold the "Ctrl" key hit "C"then go to your topic at HMH and hold the "Ctrl" key hit "V".
Let me know if you need more help. Russ
P.S.
Keep in mind the Green Machines that I'm showing were the way Warren tied them. Not necessarily the original way, or even the most popular way.
